Clearification on Penang Nude Sport Event 2014

I have a press conference on "Gerakan condemns insulting remarks against Ruler" on 11am 7th Auugust 2014 at Kedah PGRM HQ.
During the question & answer session of the said press conference,I was  asked whether a person named X X X is a Gerakan member.My reply was that the name given and published in the newspaper is similar to one of our former Gerakan member.
I merely confirmed that Chew X X was a former Gerakan member and had at one time held the post of Kedah Wanita Chief.
I would like to stress here that I have never stated anyone involvement in Penang Nude Sport Event 2014.Under no circumstances did I say the person (former Gerakan member) is a participant in an event called "Penang Nude Sport 2014".
It's not possible for me to verify the identity of the person in the video of the event.This is a matter to be determined by the police and relevant authority,who are now investigating the matter.Any confusion is regretted.

针对最近一名印裔青年在脸书发表侮辱最高元首言论一事，民政党署理主席拿督谢顺海医生大表抨击，并吁请警方立即采取行动对付该青年。

“这2个月内发生了很多引发种族和宗教冲突的事件，如署名Kelvin Yip的华裔青年在面书以粗俗字眼辱骂穆斯林清晨祈祷的广播声音太大、Chow Jack在脸书发表侮辱伊斯兰先知、霹靂州苏丹阿茲兰沙及首相拿督斯里納吉的言论及沙胡哈密侮辱兴都教等，引起了各族间的误解，严重危害国家的和谐与和平。我有理由相信这一系列事件都是由某些组织所发起的，只为了引起种族间的冲突与仇恨。”

谢顺海医生指出，最近的种族和宗教事件明显是为了煽动种族间的情绪，制造事端。因此，他呼吁所有国民，无论是穆斯林或非穆斯林不要掉进这些陷阱里，并努力抵抗种族主义。

谢顺海医生强调，民政党是一个全马来西亚人的多元种族政党，不会向这些种族主义行为让步。他也吁请警方马上彻底调查最近所有种族和宗教案件，并向民众公布调查结果，以消除人民对于警方选择性调查案件的误解。

“我发现很多人都把最近一系列的冲突事件和关丹火爆姐的案件挂钩，这是不正确的。我必须强调的是，火爆姐案件是刑事案，因为当中已涉及了安全威胁和勒索。因此，这是个别案件，与种族和宗教冲突无关。”谢顺海医生说。

谢顺海医生表示，我国绝对不能容纳种族主义及极端主义，我在此郑重呼吁相关者停止发表种族和宗教冲突言论，因为这将不利于国家发展。我们必须停止种族沙文主义的行动和言论。

Gerakan Deputy President, Dato’ Cheah Soon Hai condemned the recent Facebook post by an Indian youth, who made insulting statements against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. As a response, Cheah called for an immediate police response against the Indian youth.

“There is an increasing number of cases involving racial and religious conflicts in the last two months. For instance, the insulting comments that complained about the loud azan by Kelvin Yip on Facebook as well as the disrespectful comments made by Chow Jack on the same social site against Prophet Muhammad, Perak Sultan Raja Nazrin Shah and Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib Razak. All these have led to misunderstanding among different racial groups, seriously impacted the country and endangered national harmony. Therefore, I have the reason to believe that this series of events were initiated by certain parties, with the malicious intent to incite racial hatred.”

Cheah pointed out that, recent racial or religious tensions were obviously meant to incite negative emotions among the people to create troubles. As such, he called upon all Malaysians, regardless of Muslims or non-Muslims, not to fall into this trap, and to unite against racism.

Cheah emphasized that, Gerakan is a multiracial party for all Malaysians, and hence would never tolerate racism. He also urged the police to carry out immediate investigation on all cases involving racial and religious conflicts, and to reveal the results to the public, in order to quell public distrust against the police.

“I realize that many people tend to associate the series of events happened recently to the Kiki incident in Kuantan, which I feel is incorrect. I must emphasize that, Kiki case is a criminal case which included blackmail and security threat. As such, it was a separate case, which is irrelevant with racial and religious conflict,” said Cheah.

Cheah added that, our country has no room for racism and extremism. As such, I solemnly urge all concerned parties to cease from uttering racially and religiously offensive comments, as it is detrimental to our national development. We must stop any racial chauvinists from continuing their misconducts.
