Calling support for non-favourism of football players by Khairy

Calling support for non-favourism of football players by Khairy
Cheah Soon Hai: An exemplar for all

Press statement by
Gerakan Deputy President
Dato’ Dr Cheah Soon Hai

28 January 2014

Gerakan Deputy President Dato’ Dr. Cheah Soon Hai supported Minister of Youth and Sports, Khairy Jamaluddin’s claim that non-favourism action should be taken against the football players. Khairy had urged Malaysian Football Association earlier that they should not favour the football players under any circumstances and should take immediate disciplinary action against players who were found to violate the ethics of conducts.

“Khairy’s request demonstrates a good start that all government departments should follow, especially regarding the Auditor General (AG) report last year, to take legal actions and to claim liability of any parties that were involved in misconducts.”

Cheah pointed out that, taking fair and appropriate disciplinary actions are the only mean to achieve the transformation programs that were implemented by PM Najib, namely transparency, accountability and integrity.

He also added that all government departments should be refrained from their own internal investigations as these often ended in fruitless results without sufficient transparency, eventually leading to popular grumbles. Meanwhile, further actions should be taken to prevent similar things from happening again.
