Regarding the Home Minister, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's statement that Malays are mostly the victim of crime while major drug distributors composed of mainly Chinese, minor drug distributors mainly Indians while the Malays are the customers, Kedah Gerakan state Chairman, Dr Cheah Soon Hai strongly condemned it. He opined that as a minister for the entire country, there should not be any racial statement uttered.

"This incident has once again proved that every time when there is a party election, cases like the one above will happen. In order to get votes, leaders will say something without facts. Whereas we, at Gerakan as a multiracial party during our own election, such statements will never occur. This should be a good example for other parties to follow suit." Dr Cheah said.

He pointed out that BN should consider dissolve all the component parties and merge to become a multi-racial party itself, to reflect the 1Malaysia spirit that takes care for all regardless of race and religion.

Dr Cheah said that as a leader who uttered such statements, this will only cause his subordinates to follow his footsteps. Furthermore, this is also the reason why our country is suffering from racial polarization. Therefore, Ahmad Zahid has to retract his statement and apologise to the public immediately.
