Kedah Gerakan Youth wants govt to explain project
ALOR SETAR: Kedah Gerakan Youth has accused the state government of awarding another major project via direct negotiation.
Its chief Tan Keng Liang claimed the project was the RM100mil Amansuri Residences project.
He claimed the project was carried out by Belleview Group, the same company that is developing Aman Central Mall, which the movement claimed was also carried out via direct negotiation.
He said the project was being developed on Bina Darulaman Berhad (BDB) land located at Lebuhraya Darulaman.
"BDB is a government-linked company. Why is the company itself not carrying out the project?
"Even the contractor for the project is a state government-linked company. It clearly shows that the state has the ability to conduct the project itself," he said.
Tan urged the state to explain to the people why it did not keep its promise on practising the open tender system for all state development projects.
He said the open tender was also mentioned in Pakatan Rakyat's Buku Jingga (Orange Book).
