Karpal: Hadi should think about keeping quiet
KUALA LUMPUR: DAP national chairman Karpal Singh said Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had lately been making statements with the intention of withdrawing them later.
The Bukit Gelugor member of parliament was referring to the Pas chief's remarks on the implementation of hudud and amending the status of Islam in the Federal Constitution from the religion of the federation to Addin.
"It is regretted of late Hadi had been making statements with the sole purpose of withdrawing them later."
Karpal reiterated his previous stand that hudud could not be implemented as it would be unconstitutional. He hoped that Hadi would refrain from making further statements.
"Perhaps, Hadi should reflect upon the virtues of silence," he said in a statement yesterday.
Karpal also praised his party's vice-chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz Ibrahim.
Tunku Abdul Aziz on Wednesday announced that he would not be reappointed as a senator when his three-year term ends on May 31.
"He is a man of principle and integrity. His credentials are flawless and worthy of emulation."
