Dr Cheah Soon Hai slams PAS Youth's act of hindering the celebration of Valentine's Day
"Their action shows that they intend to control the liberty of the people."
(Sungai Petani, 13 Feb) Gerakan Kedah Chairman Dr Cheah Soon Hai slams PAS Youth for disagreeing the celebration of Valentine's Day by Malaysians, it shows that the party has a strong desire to confine the people in order to attain the objective of controlling and dominating the people.
He said, the fact has proven that PAS is oblivious of the basic human rights of other races in its agenda to materialize an Islamic state. PAS has also interfered with the daily lives of the people in a domineering and arrogant attitude, this clearly demonstrated their authoritarian mentality.
Referring to the intense opposition by the PAS Youth on the celebration of Valentine's Day by Malaysians, Dr Cheah today urged the people to see clearly of the nature of that party in order to make rational decision in the upcoming General Election in a press conference.
Dr Cheah who is also the state assemblyman for Derga said, Kedah government which is now led by PAS has began to impose Islamization policies by force to the extend of trying to introduce Hudud Law, all for the sake of emulating the Middle Eastern's Islamic state.
He pointed out that Kedah Pakatan Rakyat government had been governing Kedah using the Kelantan's style for the past 4 years, they keep introducing Islamization policies including:-
- Demolishing the only pig slaughterhouse in the state by force
- Attempted to ban all forms of entertainment during Ramadhan
- Refused to give permit for liquor sale
- Most road signs, signboards and billboards are written in Jawi only
- Installing huge loudspeakers in every district to broadcast Quran chanting
- Ordering night market operators to cease business for 15 to 30 minutes during Muslim's evening prayer's time
- Man and woman have to sit separately during celebration events or gathering
- Demolishing Guan Yin temple on Wesak Day
- Refuse to issue permit for Ghost Festival celebration during Ramadhan
- Increasing the licence fee for dog from RM5 to RM50
- Allocate land and provide billion ringgit loan to construct Islamic University to promote Islam
He said that the movements of islamization by the Kedah government are just too many to mention.
Barisan Nasional is becoming more open minded whilst Pakatan Rakyat is becoming more dogmatic
Dr Cheah said, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib has led the entire Barisan Nasional government to seriously implement political and economical transformation programs since he became the Prime Minister in 2009. Najib's effort was to ensure that people can still continue to enjoy development and stability in during a time of global economic slowdown.
He praised the Prime Minister for putting effort to serve the community and the nation with the spirit of putting people first in his heart. He is also proud of the Penang Chingay culture and the Johor Ancient Temple Deities Procession which are both listed as the nation's intangible cultural heritage.
He said, Barisan Nasional's governance is becoming more and more open and liberal whilst the Pakatan Rakyat is moving towards to opposite extreme. Despite having more component parties compared to Pakatan Rakyat, Barisan Nasional is able to achieve consensus compared to Pakatan Rakyat which is only made up of 3 parties.

Dr Cheah urges the people to make vote Barisan Nasional that is sincere in developing the country and protect the people's rights in the next General Election to continue to lead Malaysia.
Dr Cheah: Karpal Singh is the conscience of DAP
Commenting on the interaction between the 3 parties of Pakatan Rakyat, Dr Cheah said, "DAP would still disagree on the Islamization policies uphold by PAS at the beginning, but now, DAP not only no longer disagree on the matter but speaks for PAS."
However, he admires the Chairman of DAP, Karpal Singh for always upholding his political principle and ethics, he even calls Karpal Singh the conscience of DAP.
He said that Karpal Singh had once said that PAS have to step over his dead body if the party intends to implement Hudud Law, it shows his determination in opposing the idea.
He said, Karpal Singh is not like the Secretary General of DAP Lim Guan Eng who shows ambiguous attitude towards the Islamization policies of PAS, it just shows how fake and vain he is.
He also said that Gerakan Youth of Kedah and MCA Youth will be holding a Valentine's Day celebration this Tuesday (14 Feb, 2012) and he welcomes couples to participate.
