English tool for excellency

While Malaysia takes pride in the number one ranking in profiency of English in non-english speaking countries in Asia.We not only need to perverse this supremacy,there is a need to enhance it further.Taking note that it is really English that works.Top jobs only for those who know the language well.It is reported that feedback from local and international employers shows that verbal and written communication skills in English remain the most sought-after especially in multinational and bigger firms.

I would like to call upon PM,DPM and Education Minister to maintain Mathematics and Science to be taught in English in secondary schools in the year 2012.We need to prepare our children to be profiency in the language before they go to tertiary education.It is okay for our children in the primary level to use the national language or mother tongue as the medium.The young need to be exposed to the usage of English early so the earlier they master it the better.At the end of day it is practise that makes perfect.

Malaysians need to be profiency in English in today's world and all of us irrespective of our background need to acknowledge that English is an important language of knowledge and global competition.If we don't want to be left behind,we need to master the language from young.One of the reason for the lack of interest in English in Malaysia for the past few decades is the exposure to the wide usage of English too late that is only at tertiary level.Recently we can see the improvement as testimony by the world no 9 ranking and Asia no 1.This is the fruit we enjoy after former Prime Minister Tun Dr.Mahathir returned the medium of language to English in Maths and Science in 2002.It has taken almost 10 years to bear the fruit,and hardly we are able to enjoy it.Next year we are going to pluck it and chop it off.

English is not only the language of knowledge,it is also the language of internet.It is important not only in science and technology,and also in communication skills and interaction.We will lose out if we still choose to deny the important of English.
